Some alarming news in last week... meanwhile I get down & dirty with the Spanish maps

The conference room at work comes in handy!

We've decided to limit travelling down through Spain to 3.5 days, so here is my plan:
• first leg

leave around midday (assuming ferry on time) travelling about 60k west from Santander to San Vicente and then head south up into the mountains skirting the Picos de Europa along the N621 for about 110k to Riaño

continue on the N621 to Cistierna (35k) and pick up the N625 to Palanquinos (20k) where the road becomes the LE523 to .... 

Valencia de Don Juan (30k) for our first night in Spain. ETA 7pm
First leg total mileage: 255k approx
